Turn Out The Stars is a song I’ve wanted to record for a long time. The few vocal versions I’ve heard play into the tragedy and devastation of the story and I don’t hear that way. To me, this creature is in a state of cold fury, not poor me. Her words are putting a curse on the perpetrator of her heartbreak. To me, she has the power to Turn Out the Stars and she’s going to use it. That’s how I see it. No emotive hand-wringing–this person is giving an order!

Turn out the stars
Turn out the stars
Let eternal darkness hide me
If I can't have you beside me
Put out their fire
Their endless splendor
Only reminds me of your tenderness
Stop the ocean's roar
Don't let the rivers rune
Let me hear no more
The wondrous music of a skylark in the sun
Let it be done
Turn out the stars turn out the stars
Shut off their light
Stop every comet in their magic lonely flight
Let there be night
Turn out the stars
